2018 GRANTEES
African American Cultural Center - August Wilson Center
The African American Cultural Center – August Wilson Center is a home for the arts, storytelling, learning and exchange around the African American experience and the rich culture of the African diaspora. From October 12, 2018 through March, 24, 2019 the August Wilson Center will play home to the Familiar Boundaries. Infinite Possibilities. (FBIP) exhibition - a showcase of regional, national, and international contemporary artists.
Included in the exhibition will be the USA premiere of Flying Girls (shown in photos below) by Peju Alatise, a Nigerian-based artist, architect and storyteller. Other featured artists include Shikeith, Lizania Cruz, and Tsedaye Makonnen (photographed below). These featured artists create spaces of joy, safety, healing, and care for humanity and the environment.
We are compelled by all the artists and excited to help elongate the life of the exhibits by underwriting exhibit publications. AE&E Fund is thrilled to support the August Wilson Center and the artists of the Familiar Boundaries. Infinite Possibilities exhibition.
