Art21 is a celebrated global leader in presenting thought-provoking and sophisticated content about contemporary art, and the go-to place to learn first-hand from the artists of our time. Through the production of documentary films, Art21 provides unparalleled access to the artist’s voice introducing millions of people to the art and ideas of some of the greatest artists of our time. Over the span of two decades, Art21 has changed the paradigm for teaching and learning about the creative process through documentary films, educational programs, digital resources, publications, and an extensive library of the films and educational content it produces.
Art21 is proud to present a new film featuring the work of artist Alex Da Corte, and his installation “Rubber Devil Pencil” for the 57th Edition of the Carnegie International. This film tracks Da Corte working on the videos that are part of the glowing neon house installation for the show. Drawing upon popular culture, television, art history, as well as his time living in Pennsylvania in his younger years, Da Corte fashions an immersive, dreamlike environment and invites viewers to experience a contemporary portrait of America. The film is part of Art21’s digital series Extended Play and premiered in fall 2018.
